Name of Post:

 INSPECTOR POSTS.

Classification:

  • General Central Service, Group ‘B’, Non Gazetted, Ministerial.

Level in the pay matrix:

  • Level-7 (Rs. 44,900- 1,42,400) 

Method of recruitment:

  • 33.34% by direct recruitment through Staff Selection Commission.
  • 66.66% by promotion through Limited Departmental Competitive Examination.

Educational Qualification for direct recruits:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university or institute.

 

Age limit for direct recruits:

  • Not exceeding 30 years (Relaxable for Government Servants upto five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government). 
  • Note: The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be as advertised by the Staff Selection Commission. 

[Whether age and education qualification prescribed for direct recruits will apply in the case of promotees? Not applicable]

 

Promotion through Limited Departmental Competitive Examination:

 

Eligibility criteria:

 

Officials of various grades, as specified below, with eight years of regular qualifying service as on the crucial date for 

determining the eligibility service as specified by Central Government are eligible for appearing in Limited Departmental Competitive Examination:

  • (a) Higher Selection Grade-II (Level-6) in all offices including regular service put in as Lower Selection Grade and Postal Assistant or Sorting Assistant; 
  • [HSG Grade II + LSG +PA/SA =8 years]
  • (b) Postmaster Grade-II (Level-6) in all offices including regular service put in as Postmaster Grade-I and Postal Assistant; 
  • [PM Grade-II +PM Grade-I+PA= 8years]
  • (c) Stenographer Grade-I (Level-6) in all offices including regular service put in as Stenographer Grade-II; 
  • [Steno Grade-I+Steno Grade-II=8 years]
  • (d) Lower Selection Grade (Level-5) in all offices including regular service put in as Postal Assistant or Sorting Assistant; 
  • [LSG +PA/SA=8 years]
  • (e) Postmaster Grade-I (Level-5) in all offices including regular service put in as Postal Assistant;
  • [PM Grade-I+PA=8 years]
  • (f) Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant (Level-4) in all offices; 
  • [PA/SA= 8 years]
  • (g) Stenographer Grade-II (Level-4) in all offices.
  • [Steno Grade-II= 8 years]

 

Age limit for appearing in Limited Departmental Competitive Examination

  • Age limit for appearing in Limited Departmental Competitive Examination is not exceeding 45 (forty five) years as on the crucial date of eligibility, to which the vacancies pertain to.

Subject:- Procedure for selection of candidates for the post of Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant(PA / SA) on the basis of Limited Departmental Competitive Examination - regarding.

Madam/Sir,

I am directed to refer to Directorate's letter No. X-121612021-SPNJI dated 31.12.2021

which inter-alia provides that selection of candidates for appointment as Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant through examinations conducted by Department shall be done by preparing a single merit list at Circle level for each cadre and after preparation of merit lists, selected candidates shall be allocated Division as per merit vis-a-vis order of preference exercised by the candidate subject to availability of vacancy in a Division.

2. ln this connection, Competent Authority has approved that while exercising preference for Cadre / Division / Unit, eligible candidates appearing in the examination for PA/SA shall first give order of preference for Cadre and then give order of preference for Division / Unit. For example, a candidate appearing in the said examination may exercise his/her preference in following order: -


3. A candidate shall be considered against a cadre if a cadre has been opted by him/her,subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions. For example, an applicant will be considered for Postal Assistant (Post Office), only if option is given for Postal Assistant (Post Office)cadre,otherwise his candidature will not be considered while preparing merit list for Postal Assistant(Post Office).

4. After giving order of preference for cadre, candidate shall give order of preference Of Division / Unit for which they intend to be considered. A candidate shall not be considered for a Division / Unit for which preference has not been submitted by him/her'

5. Candidate will be considered for the 1st preferred cadre for all opted Divisions / Units followed by 2nd preferred cadre for all opted Divisions / Units and so on.

Ruling of Selection and posting of Instructors in the Postal Training Centres are

 

1. The post of Director, Deputy Director and Assistant Director will be filled up by the Directorate New Delhi.
2. Ruling of Selection and posting of Instructors in the Postal Training Centres are:-

Kindly see DGs Letter No 15/2/81-SPB II Dated 21st October 1981 and 13-15/96-ED & TRG Dated 22-24/11/1999 and 1-12/2004-Trg Dated 14.06.2004.

Eligibility for Appointment:-

  •  (i) The applicant should be of ASPs cadre for Senior Instructor.
  •  (ii) The applicant should be of IPs or the applicant should be of PA/SA cadre with 8 or more years of service for Instructor.
  •  (iii) He should be not more than 52 years of age.
  •  (iv) No disciplinary actions or proceedings should be pending against the applicant.

Method of Selection:-

  •  (i) The Instructors may be selected from officials either of the Inspector`s line or the general line [PA/SA Cadre] according to their suitability. [DGs Letter No 15/2/81-SPB II Dated 21st October 1981]
  •  (ii) As per DGs Letter No 1-12/2004-Trg Dated 14.06.2004 the Chief Postmaster General may nominate his representative who will conduct Interview of eligible candidates along with other member of selection committee.
  •  (iii) As per DGs Letter No 13-15/96-ED & TRG Dated 30.07.1996 the selection of Senior Instructor / Instructor should have been finalized by committee.
  •  (iv) The applicant will have to undergo Interview before the selection.

3. Ruling of Selection and posting of Accountant/Office Assistant [on deputation basis only] in the Postal Training Centres are:-

Eligibility for Appointment:-

  •  (i) The applicant should be of Accountant cadre for Accountant.
  •  (ii) The applicant should be of PA/SA cadre with 5 or more years of service for Office Assistant.
  •  (iii) He should be not more than 52 years of age.
  •  (iv) No disciplinary actions or proceedings should be pending against the applicant.
